Some of our best advice has come from other mothers-both experienced moms and new moms alike. So, we wanted to do a feature called Wisdom from a Mom Friend. We wanted a place to share positive messages and lessons we learned from friends and readers of Such Is Motherhood. Our first quote is from a mom friend:
“Take that picture with your friends, family and especially, your kids-even if you don’t have any make-up on or feel like a tired mess. Right now is the youngest you’ll ever be.” - Wendy M.
Some days you feel like you’re just barely holding it together. Your clothes are not exactly representative of your style-let alone your standards of tidiness. Dry shampoo has become your best friend and you’ve not been in touch with your friend make-up in a while. Despite all that, you should be in that picture with your kids. Why? Well, you heard the woman. Right now is the youngest you’ll ever be. Also, you want to look back at pictures of your kids and see yourself in them.
Admittedly, we have pictures with our little ones where we look the worst. And, the photos taken when they were newborns? We look absolutely insane. However, we don’t regret any of those photos. They document your little one’s journey and all the love and care you put into their childhood. Even if you’re sporting toddler handprints, no make-up and your hair in a bun (again), you’ll be so glad you were in them. Your kids will appreciate looking back on them. And, when we look back on those moments captured, we’ll marvel how young we looked.
Have any positive messages for other moms? Or, do you have any lessons you’ve learned on-the-job as a mom or from your own caregivers growing up? We’d love to hear them!
